Right of entry refers to the part of Commonwealth workplace laws which regulate the rights of company employees and their elected officers (such as trade union officials) to enter premises. All employees have the right to choose whether they will be a member of a trade union. Permit holders also have the right to lawfully enter the workplace, subject to conditions. The purpose of this policy is to clarify the rights and obligations of permit holders and employees in relation to permit holders entering the workplace, and to set out the procedures that must be followed for the orderly conduct of those entries.
